Neurotic

Perfection manifests in the brain,

Not in the abdominals,

Not in a smoulder or in a smile,

No matter how sincere,

Appearances ask the viewer to think,

They prod “try to guess my flaw”

And I always find something, Example

Boy meets me

Attractive

 coy smile

now I get reactive

my brain spouts suggestions

personality disordered

gay- wrong direction

arrogant I hate him

he isn’t

well, he isn’t the ONE

infectious ONE to me it’s not the person I’m meant to be with

it’s the ONE I first fell in love with

Wasted Apologies

I'm sorry for that little joke
I suppose it went too far
The lack of word last time we spoke
Felt off empty bizzare
I prefer when we laugh
not when psace lacks the motion of words
I'm sorry, sorry
and I'm sorry too that I'm talking to an empty crowd

Columbia

She beckons
She whispers in my ear
Oh she tempts me with the fruit of wisdom
The light of knowledge
The offer of more
Viva más la me dice
This is the life you crave
The place you yearn for
your people
your time, your time right here
four years, I ask four years
and I'll pay
let me make you proud

A Counter and Three Bottles of Vodka

A counter and three bottles of vodka =

One party, one-fifty people

Nine flights of steps and a rooftop =

A drunken mountain hike

Like a spiral staircase to heaven

One-fourty nine inebriated youths,

one sober set of eyes looking in,

one sober set of ears drinking in their words

Some spew philosophy,

The philosophy of nonsense trying to make sense,

Four writers and one mortician =

Three books about death, one corpse, and one steady cashflow

One whore and one prude=

One person

The girl who puts out and goes to the party and

The girl who refuses to cloud her thoughts with a depressant,

Like the champagne that flowed out after we won the war to end all wars

In the city that never sleeps, the city that never returned to sobriety,

And we wonder why we never see a star in the night sky,

It's because of one counter and three bottles of vodka.

Maybe Someone

I waste away with every passing minute
looking astute and ready to greet
five minutes until I must begin it
I shake and I fear that no one I shall meet

One man down, a soldier valient, brave
eager to serve the hell from which he came
my hopes, my ideas a few more will save
but if no one swallows and stands, I guess it's all the same

Oh thanks, oh joy they stood, to my side to assist
plotting in a circle, I no more back down
I rise, I speak, I insist
A smirk from a frown

Sounding Board

Good Morning. While you munch on you bagels and sipp the scaulding coffee, consider this. Have you ever felt like when you talk, you are screaming into a pillow. Sometimes I feel that way. Somketimes it feels as though I stand in an echoing room, making a speech, voice booming off of the walls, I'm the only one that hears. In the world today, the only way to make yourself known and get your voice heard is to be forceful and pushy. A shameful cloud befalls me when required to act in such a manner, like I poke people until they bruise and plead "uncle." But que sera sera I suppose.

Don't Be Yourself: Pull a Bob

Now, I fully understand that this looks like the antithesis of sound advice, but if you tend to sway towards the shy side of life, like me, don't let it drag you dow. What I mean to say is not to let a shy attitude keep people from really seeing all of your potential.
For example, this summer I attended a summer session at an ivy league. I decided that five weeks was too short a portion of my life to miss out on anything. I then reconciled with myself to say hello to everyone. I call this, "pulling a Bob." Bob is a boy I met during the summer who started conversations with everyone. He gave off such an air of friendliness that everyone loved him: the professors, the RA's, and all of the other students. Think about it. You want people to know you and all of your accomplishments, so would they want the exact same thing. Maybe it's time to focus outward to focus inward, if that makes sense.
So, I challenge you to try it out tomorrow because the ephemerality of time would shock you. Pull a Bob.

Tomorrow Man

The sun melts into the skyline,

And appears on your side of the globe

I feel our lives intertwine,

But it leaves without a hope.

The hazy rainbow boasts its spectrum

And I think of what we could be someday,

Without your voice my life is humdrum,

Without your humor the rainbow grays

I live in the evening of yesterday,

You walk in the light of tomorrow,

Cheers to all we were

Cheers to all we will be

Drinking in the pink champagne horizon

Drowning in my sorrow,

Thinking of you,

My man, my love

Wishing for tomorrow.

Tomorrow man.

Dear J.

It crept up my throat while I slept,

It slept in my heart while I waked,

It sang in the words that we kept,

It died in the lies we caked,

On the nights we denied all the looks,

The days we comforted smiles,

But I cannot forgive what you took,

Which you dragged with you thousands of miles.

The summer heat changed my form,

From a girl to a woman in love,

Who knew what I’d find in that dorm,

But I always thank Him up above.

Pulling a Jerry Maguire

This is not a memo, it's a mission statement.
Maybe you envision Tom Cruise saying the same thing in Jerry Maguire. His purpose was to change a company, but my purpose is just to show another facet of me, one that my peers never see in the cold, stone, intelligent demeanor I exeute on a daily basis. The only way I maintain my reputation is by pouring my sentiment into poetry which no one knows I write. So, here it goes...
